We will be reviewing the JVC DLA-RS2 D-ILA Projector and the JVC BHL-5009-S Replacement Lamp that goes with it. The DLA-RS2 first shipped in December 2007 and ended production in September 2010. Featuring JVC’s proprietary D-ILA technology, the DLA-RS2 projects images more naturally and realistically then ever before. This technology reflects light off the LCD panel rather then blocking it making the fill rate comparatively high which results in a smoother image. Usually the contrast would suffer when using this technology but the RS2 packs an incredible 30,000:1 ratio!

This projector thrives in home theater use as well as for professionals. The DLA-RS2 has very flexible placement options. What gives it this capability? Power focus and zoom, wide range on the zoom lens and vertical and horizontal lens shift. Ceiling and rear shelf mounting options put this projector ahead of any DLP projector and comparable to most LCD projectors.

One of the more important things for your home theater is picture quality. This is where the RS2 really stands out. This projector out-of-the-box will out perform other comparable projectors tuned to their highest performance setting. Excellent black level performance and highly detailed shadows sets the bar for the DLA-RS2′s competitors.
